Ptedit windows 10. This is Pdf files search result, these list files is all releated 'Ptedit windows 10',you can view online or download it (click right and save as. Does PowerQuest's PTEDIT32 run under WinXP Pro? It reports error #5. Also, try finding and putting ptvxd.vxd in your windows system folder.
Apparently PTEDIT32 can edit partitions, making partitions that are hidden, visible. My purpose is to take a hidden partition on a toshiba laptop (the recovery partition) and copy it as my hard drive is beginning to fail.
My problem, is that I cannot find PTEDIT32 documentation on what I want to change the partition # to. I know that changing it from 27 to 7 would change it from hidden to active - but if I set it to active, I am worried it will try to launch the recovery mode (as that is what it did on a previous laptop)
Here is the link I used for instructions to do this on a previous laptop: Hidden_Recovery_Link_SiteSo how to make the hidden partition visible without it actually RUNNING the recovery mode?

I found that Acronis Disk Director will do a direct 'clone' of the hard drive including boot partitions and the hidden partitions.
I have not used it for the notebook, but have used it for a desktop with success. This should solve the issue.
In addition it will allow marking of a partition as 'Active' so that you can access the files on the hidden partition.

Is there any free program out there that lets you manually edit partition table(s) (including the extended partitions -- not just primary)?

It seems that PTEdit is able to edit the MBR information.

GNU Parted, and gparted are quite good tools. You can find them on the parted magic cd.

EDIT: In the interest of improving the results for people that may end up here wrongly, I have learned today that there is a difference between partitions and partition tables. This wikipedia entry on partition tables begins to explain the difference; that article leads to this one on the Master Boot Record, which is the term I'm more familiar with.
Original Answer: Easeus has a partition tool that is free. It works great, and can do a lot of things that the pay-for tools can do. I've used it a lot, many people like it.
You can adjust the primary and logical partitions, choose how much to leave in the existing partition before making a new one, and can even set it up in your main OS and have it configure it on reboot. Super handy tool.
